Get This....

Recently, my company has been doing the whole rearrange/lay off thing. I shouldn't really say recently because it has been going on since 9/11. Being I work for one of the largest travel/hospitality companies in the world they took this slump REALLY hard. Since then I have personally gone through 3 layoffs and have had to prove my job's worth every single day with additional statistical tracking and paperwork.

I have watched people I worked and have been friends with for almost 10 years get the ax. This has been difficult to say the least. However, no matter how sad things got I always had a secretly good feeling that they kept me. Of course this isn't something you can voice or mention to anyone.

Today, I think they went too far. Recently, they told my immediate boss and her boss (head of my department) that they were being moved over into another department. They were specifically picked for new jobs they were forming. This meant that I got a new boss and another head of the department. So far, so good. While I miss my old boss, I love my new boss.

Today we found out that the old head of our department was told she had a new job she was being groomed for was really being laid off. They told her this morning. I'm shocked that such a practice took place. I mean, I know this stuff happens all the time but I honestly thought the company I have invested nearly 10 years of my life was better than this.

Apparently not.

Linda, I'm so sorry they did this to you. I'll miss ya.
