He said he was sorry.
He took me for granted and I didn't deserve what happened. He never made me his priority thinking I would always be there. He acknowledged his errors but doesn't think we can ever recover from it and said it was best I moved on.
(big hesitation)
But he said it.
"Perhaps in time...."
"I don't know how I feel..."
"I don't make you happy..."
"I feel it's for the best..."
"I just want to be left alone..."
"You deserve so much better..."
"I have a lot going on...."
"I need to focus on me for a while so I have something to offer..."
It was a conversation I was waiting for. A conversation I needed to hear. Excuses don't matter because I've heard them 100's of times before but that apology meant everything.
It wasn't forced. It wasn't because of any hidden motivation. He said it without provocation and I felt he meant it for the first time.
I DESERVED IT.
Like, a lot.
