My First Skate

I haven't skated since March. That is a long time.

After having such a good time the night before and getting very little sleep I was prepared to lay in bed all day and try to catch up on some sleep if my body was willing. Luckily for me however my phone rang and it was Nancy asking if I was interested in meeting up for a skate with the Minnesota Inline Skate Club and join them for a potluck picnic.

My first reaction was fear I guess because I just haven't skated in so long and felt I wasn't ready. Even so, I just couldn't say no. The day looked too nice and I missed it too much.

I headed out and called Tad on the way to see if he wasn't busy and asked him to join in the festivities. Can you believe he was on his way to skate anyway and just needed to change the direction of his car?

Freaky.

I loaded up on SPF 50 because Lord knows that I will burn something nasty if I don't. The medication I'm on makes me extremely sensitive to the sun causing the small blood vessels under my skin to burst. The burn feels like no other burn I have had from the sun and it makes me pretty nauseous.

I tried hard to spare my body from the pain. Apparently all my effort was in vain because as of this morning it didn't work. My legs are like plums.

You can see here that I was fast to be the last person in line. Nancy was gracious enough to skate back with me. Thank you Nancy!!

After the skate, we set up out food and the festivities began. NUMMY FOOD!

Nancy is having a good time. If anyone is interested, Nancy is a massage therapist and owns Muscle Relief Massage in Apple Valley, MN. She is F A B U L O U S at what she does. Check her out because it would be worth your time.

Carl and Tad catching some rays on what turned out to be a very chilly windy afternoon.

I'm glad I went but I'm sore and my legs are pretty burnt despite my attempt to save myself the pain. I'm sure it will subside soon but at least I got myself out there and I hope to again soon. In the mean time I will take today to rest and relax since tomorrow will be a whirlwind of chaos at work.

Hope your weekend was a good one....
