Extra Time and a Frame....

Ok - so I have pretty much demolished my den finding frames, artwork and knick-knack-paddy-whacks...

Ummm. Whatever.

Anyway, so I noticed that my only self portrait drawing that I have ever done (way back in 1990) hadn't been framed and was getting damaged. I mean, like, a lot. SO I thought I would give it a permanent home but not before I created the biggest mess known to human kind.

I bought a bunch of frames at IKEA a while back but they are just black frames with white mats. Well, I couldn't just be plain and simple about it - no. I had to pull out some left over fabric and make a fricken masterpiece.

Here is a bunch of different fabrics, the mat, some paper I'm using as a backer for the some other fabric and a big 'ol mess.

This is kinda the look I'm going for. However, in the middle of the thingy there is gonna be a picture of my young self sketched in pencil..

Kinda like this....

This took me FOREVERrrr to get right people. I mean, I was cutting and tracing and taping and cutting and slicing and cursing and cutting. My X-Acto knife is pretty much smoking.

Don't you just love my 80's do?

Finally after what seemed like a year I was done. It's fabulous - well, kinda. I had bigger and better plans for it but this will have to do.

In fact, I wouldn't mind touching it up and making it better. I see all the places I could have spent more time and gotten it to look more crisp. I mean, it has been 15 years for cripes sakes. The pencil is fading.

So this is the hallway that I put it in. I didn't want people to focus on it being it is a picture of me and I'm not all that please with the outcome but it's hung up and no longer rotting in a closet.

All is well in Jacque land. At least for the next ten minutes until I tear into something else.
