So last night I was on a quest. I wanted to find the most talked about trail since I started rollerblading - the Greenway.
It's a trail that was once a railroad and it has been converted into a walking, biking, rollerblading path. This means that it has no huge curves and no large grade hills.
I knew it started over by Lake Calhoun so I made my way over there. On their website it mentions an access point behind Whole Foods in Minneapolis. It took me 40 minutes of turning around and driving like a crazy lunatic but I searched and search and searched and finally found the access point and parking.
I got on the trail and I was amazed at the beautiful scenery and the wonderful condition of the path. It is a rollerbladers DREAM! I got on at Excelsior and skated to Nicollet and decided to turn around.
Getting to Nicollet wasn't a problem because I realized I had been going down hill at a slight grade and the wind was behind me. On the way back I was in for some trouble. I was going uphill at a constant rate and the wind was in my face. It was rough but it made for a good workout. (4 miles)
I'm hooked - that is for sure. I loved the people (very nice looking) and I loved the seclusion and the ease of blading there. I found my favorite summer blading spot after years of searching.
Finally....
