Oh NO......

N and I just got back from the St. Paul Inline Marathon skate expo at the Crown Plaza Hotel. On the way we thought we would have lunch and figured that Mickey's Dining Car would be perfect. However, once we got there we quickly noticed that it was just too busy to get a seat inside. We walked in and looked around so N could see it and we head out.

The skate expo was pretty cool. I got a new skate bag and some new hand slider gloves. Later on after the expo we made our way to Dicks sporting good and Sportmart to pick up a camel-back water pack. It should be helpful tomorrow if either one of us has a problem. It will be very helpful while I'm on the trails by myself.

I couldn't help but notice how the helpers at the expo knew absolutely nothing about the 10 mile tour. Even the person that handed us our packet knew nothing about it. Every question regarding it was meant with a "Gee... good question - I don't know." Finally after asking most everyone we could find we found some 'head' volunteer and she too admitted she knew little about it.

HUH?

Well, eventually we kinda sorta got some answers regarding the start and finish of the 10 mile tour. I fear that we will still have to wing it tomorrow. We drove the course and I have to admit that I'm a bit nervous. I'm not used to going up so many hills and especially a five mile slow gradual one. Don't even get me started about the hill on Sibley we have to finish at!!

I'm hoping the rollerblade Gods are with me tomorrow as I attempt this but N doesn't seem to worried about it. She says she will push me if she has too - that we will finish with a good time no matter what. I guess I don't care about the time as long as I just -- finish alive.

I suppose this is the practice we need for Duluth in September. I just didn't train for this and I don't want to do a worse time than what I did at the Metrodome half marathon last April.

Think of us at 8:10 tomorrow morning as we roll out for the 10 mile skate. I'll need all the good vibes I can get...

Ya know, one of my great-uncle's was actually killed in that VERY Mickey's. He was working at the Ford Plant in Highland Park and normally...
please note, i've been drinking heavily...
went to the Mickey's further up W. 7th, near the Pearson's candy factory, but I guess that night it was closed for cleaning or something.
Well anyhow, that Mickey's was being robbed by someone and my great-uncle was heading in after his shift to get something to eat, and the robber was running out, and they collided, consequently, my great-uncle was stabbed in the stomache and bled to death before the paramedics could get there in time.
