Movie Time...

Star Trek:The Search For Spock - Having watched Spock die in the last film I was surprised to have Spock involved in this film too but we are talking about Science Fiction right? So the whole movie was ok. It was sad that Kirk's son had to die and everything but he was a bad actor anyway. (although he had a nice butt) I still can't get over how poorly the films are made in comparison to today's movie making but I have to remember the technology available was quite different as well.

I'm such a movie snob...

So the whole "Live Long And Prosper" and "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few - or the one" quotes finally make more sense to me. I mean, they have always made sense but I get it now.

See, if my parents would have let us watch movies as kids I wouldn't have to rent old sci-fi flicks and critique them now - instead I would have been wowed by the movie at the time and would have nothing better for me to compare it too.

...the scars of one's childhood.... (mom, I'm totally kidding - you don't need to call me)

Star Trek: The Voyage Home - OK - the chick from 7th Heaven and the dude from Back to The Future and Taxi was in this flick. It through me off completely. I mean he was the Klingon enemy and HELLO?!? - that guy can't be a mean guy!

Yes, I know these are old movies but having never seen them before and knowing what other things the actors have moved on too since is just difficult at times. It's totally my problem and I get it. It's still funny though.

I thought the whole thing about the Humpback whales was peculiar. It never explained WHY an alien probe wanted to communicate with them and what the hell were they even saying to each other? It made absolutely no sense to me and I laugh through a lot of it.

I mean, come on... HUMPBACK whales? Seriously, was this film just made to bring awareness to the plight of whales? Not that this is a bad thing of course because no one wants to bring a species of animals to extinction but it was an odd plot.

I did enjoy the crew being back in the 20th century and having to deal with our craziness of the times. My favorite part was when Spock put that neck thing on that punk rocker dude on the bus.

He reminded me of similar characters I have seen like Worf from Star Trek Next Generations, Teal'c from SG-1 or KA D'Argo from Farscape.

Good movie but weird.

Netflix movies being shipped:
Star Trek: The Final Frontier
Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country
Star Trek: Generations
Star Trek: First Contact
Star Trek: Insurrection
Star Trek: Nemesis

christopher lloyd, from "Taxi" and "Back to the Future" was in the "Search for Spock" where he played a klingon with anger management issues. he got knocked off by captain kirk in the same movie, but didn't make it to "the voyage home."

why i know this information, i have no flippin idea.

I get that part but it never explained why an alien probe would even KNOW about them being they did explain that whales where not populated on any other planet other than Earth. It still makes no sense to me how an alien probe would even know about them if they weren't on any other planet in the solar system.

Plus - how the hell would it know how to speak to them and what they hell were they saying to eachother?? Not to mention - why the hell would the probe proceed to vaporize the water in all the oceans if it were looking for whales to respond - I mean, what if a whale was in the ocean that it was vaporizing and the whale just happened to be a deaf mute?

It would have killed it.

To find the answer to your whale question, refer to the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. "So long, and thanks for all the fish."-byrdman
