Hey All You Computer People.....

Yesterday I bought myself a Bonzai Xpress USB 2.0 Embedded Flash Drive - otherwise known as a ‘jump drive’ – to sneak around the crazy rules of my work computer.  (We are unable to download ANYTHING from the internet with the exception of pictures) I thought I could upload some picture software so that I could upload my pictures to my blog without having to do it at home.

I uploaded the Picasa software I wanted from my home computer onto the jump drive and this morning I attempted to place it on my work computer. SUCCESS!  That part of my sneaky plan worked however, I can’t get the software to connect to the internet.

I can an error that reads: Network unreachable. Please check you internet connection and try again. (0x00000020)

This irks me.  I mean, I don’t know what to do.  I have checked my connection and its up and running.  I have even gone as far as put my security at ‘low’ hoping this would eliminate my problem but it hasn’t.  I need help and I know there are some super smart internet folks out there that may be able to assist me.  Leave a comment below if you know what I need to do.

Because of the problems I’m unable to post my rodeo pictures.  I mean, I can do it while I’m home but I’m so danged busy when I leave work that the last thing I want to do is sit at another computer when I have been doing that all day long.  I promise that I will post the pics but it would be easier if I could post them from work.

Please, someone help!

It sounds like your not going to be able to use Picasa from your work computer. Most likely your work network is set up to only allow certain ports the ability to talk out (basically, allow software from any workstation to be able to communicate outwards instead of inwards (i.e. a web browser)).
Now, what you might be able to do is go into Picasa settings and change what port it uses, but most likely you don't have that kind of access, in which case your pretty much s.o.l.
If you want stand alone software that does not require internet access, let me know, I have lots and lots and lots of software choices to pick from!
I personally suggest ACDSee. It's a great, very easy to use but surprisingly powerful photo editor. If I need to do something and ACDSee can't do it, than I use Photoshop. But I'd say 7 times outta 10, ACDSee can do it. If you want that, let me know.

Freakwerks - Thanks for the info hun. I dont' know if your software would work for what I want. This software allows me to post pictures directly to my blog.

jamwall - Yes it has a firewall and no I can't do that because I can't download anything from the net - hence the reason I bought the jump drive in the first place. Thanks anyway.

Ah, I didn't realize that Picasa could do that (that's really neat actually!). Yeah, I think you just might be s.o.l. Sorry sweetie
