Last night a friend of mine had a bike accident. He was on a designated bike path going down a hill, speeding around a corner. He hit an unleashed dog that crossed his path before he could fully stop. He fell and hit the back of his helmeted head on the pavement. He broke the helmet in 6 places. The doctors expressed that he would not have made it without the helmet.
Thankfully, he is ok but his head hurts something fierce. He never wore a helmet until Carl died at the rollerdome. He vowed from that day forward that he would never do anything without one. I believe that Carl’s death saved his life in a round-about way.

Hey, it's better to have had the helmet and a wicked headache than the horrible alternative.
Personally, I just don't ride bikes. That's much safer.
