Overheard Corporate Speak

Even though Corporate America pays my bills.  I hate it.  Most people are egomaniacs, concentrate on things that don't matter and say a whole lot of nonsense.  Here are some of my favorite phrases I like to laugh at during meetings.

What are some phrases you have heard of?

Snake in the high grass  -- To come out ahead.
ex. "I think I'm going to be a snake in the high grass on this pitch."

Another way to skin a cat -- Many options available to you.
ex. "We could do it that way but there is always another way to skin a cat."

Coming to the alter  -- To lay it out on the table.  To spill your guts and have people point fingers at you.
ex.  "The project has fallen behind.  I think we need to have a coming to the alter."

Bled all over -- To make last minute changes.
ex. "We gave them the contract and they have bled all over it."

Low hanging fruit - - The most prominant.  The obvious.
ex. "Let's tackle the low hanging fruit on this tree first and then move on to the bigger issues."

Thinking outside of the box  -- To think out of the normal sphere.
ex. "We have some great ideas but we need to think outside of the box to get this client sold."

Put to bed -- To end, shut down &/or close
ex. "We tried our hardest on this project but it's time to put it to bed."

Going to bed -- To schmooze, cater too.
ex. "We will be going to bed with this Client until we get our contract."

PFG -- Pretty Friggen Good
ex. "You did PFG on that presentation."

OMG -- Oh My God!
ex. "OMG! You did PFG on that presentation."

TMI -- To Much Information
ex. "OMG! You did PFG on that presentation however you focused TMI on the budget."

FYI  -- For Your Information
ex. "OMG! You did PFG on that presentation however, FYI, you focused TMI on the budget."

TTYL - Talk to you later
ex. "OMG! You did PFG on that presentation however, FYI, you focused TMI on the budget. TTYL!"

TTFN - Ta ta for now
ex. "OMG! You did PFG on that presentation however, FYI, you focused TMI on the budget. TTFN!"

Ugh. My skin is crawling. This is why I can't keep an office job. Well, that and my habit of trying my best not to do any work.
