THE DREAM...( PART 1)

I woke up and I noticed I was in my first home however, it was not located in the same geographical location.  The house was located on the same block as my friends "B & E" in St. Paul, in fact it was their home but only on the outside.

The house was located on a hill.  All the houses on the block had front yards that slope steeply to the street that were met by retaining walls to hold the earth off the sidewalks below.  The road was at the bottom of the trench with the houses perched high above it.

I realized that even though I was in their house, the layout was exactly like my first home in Crystal.  I was perplexed but realized I had woken up after my alarm. I scrambled to make my way to the shower.  I was half undressed and stepping into the tub when I heard someone banging and screaming at my front door.

My heart plummeted, my stomach lurched and I couldn't get any air into my lungs.  I was scared to death and almost naked.  I frantically looked around for my robe and put it on awkwardly as I raced to cover myself.  I stood up against the bathroom door panting as my mind raced.

My eyes look forward through the curtains of the window and saw gangs of men and women with guns shooting at one another in a fight for their lives.  My house was surrounded, under fire and I saw my life flash in front of me.

I ducked down, crawling on the floor to the kitchen to grab the only form of protection I owned.  My hands fumbled nervously but I tried to grab as many knives I could.  I pulled the belt on my robe tight and placed the knives wherever I could.

I froze. All I could hear was my breath and my heart pound.  In and out.  In and out. BOOM,BOOM - BOOM,BOOM.  In and out. My throat was so dry and parched that I couldn't swallow anymore. I felt as if I was choking.

Suddenly the kitchen window exploded throwing glass all over myself and the kitchen.  The sounds of gun fire, screaming and chaos had now contaminated my silent state of shock.   All the windows were being invaded by gun toting savages crawling into them. I pounced to my feet, saw my keys on the table, unlocked the front door and raced blindly out into the unknown.
