When were you first allowed to stay home alone, and under what circumstances?

I don't remember the exact age but I know that it was due to some family wedding thingy. My older sister Lisa would babysit and my younger sister Nikki would sneak into the liquor cabinent. She would drink the Rootbeer Schnapps and water it down so they wouldn't notice.
