The Weekend

FRIDAY
Picked up Mark and headed to my place to tackle the porch project.

"Just a heads up to everyone, a few posts back I mentioned a fence that I had to dismantle. Mark found some free wood in fence form to use for the side step to my house."

We arrive at my place after buying some nails. ($6.59) I tackle the first step of taking the nails out of the wood and Mark tears up the sturdy skid we found. We worked until 12:30am.

Rough outline of supports is complete.

SATURDAY
Up at 8 am. Late. Have to be in Coon Rapids by 8:30. I run into the shower. Marks on the couch sleeping. I wake him to get in the shower. We leave at 8:30, arrive at 9:00. Pack the truck with the tent and head to Shakopee to set up the tent for LaJeanne. (see here to read about the Renaissance Festival)

We unpack the storage shed, set up the tent, visit Kurt's store to leave a note and head to the Lions Tap for Lunch around two in the afternoon. They have great burgers!

Leave there and head home to finish up the porch. I went to Home Depot and picked up some weather proffer to protect the wood from weather and rot. ($25.00) I paint the porch and picnic table while Mark measures and cuts all the inside supports for our special funky design we drew out.

We work until late again. (unsure of time) Watch very last 10 minutes of Pioneer quest. I'm SUPER upset I missed the final episode but Mark see it's on again at 3am. We stay up talking in hopes to see the show.

2:38am Mark gets up to turn on TV and I continue to lay down. I figure I will get up in a few minutes and I totally fell asleep, missing my program and ALL THAT SLEEP waiting for it to happen.

Support is painted, measured, and ready for inside supports tomorrow.

SUNDAY
Wake up late. Make breakfast. Find Mark sprawled all over the couch with the blankets covering his eyes. (afternoon sun can be so cruel in the morning) I'm upset I feel asleep and he looks to see if it will be on again. TUESDAY NIGHT!!!! (so don't call me then ok?)

I let Mark sleep while I went outside to pick up our mess a bit. I started a fire in the back fire pit and burnt the scraps of wood. Waiting for him to wake up - I put all the rocks in the border along the shade north garden. (Finally have that done now)

Mark wakes up, he places supports in the porch for the design we want. He teaches me how to use the table miter saw. I cut almost every board for the top design. I'm no guru but I thought I did pretty well. We had to race towards the end of the day to get it done but we made it. The floor of the top portion of the porch is complete. The railing, gate wall and ramp we have yet to do.

I take Mark home and pick up some wood to make a sign for LaJeanne's back side of the tent. I head home and realize that I haven't even touched my dishes or my laundry and the kitties have destroyed my basement.

I'm pooped.
