I have been reading a lot lately about intuition and dreams. It is known that 10% of our brains are not used in this day in age. Maybe there is more to us than we think. I have been reading the book "Second Sight" by Judith Orloff, M.D. A psychiatrist and intuitive tells her extraordinary story and shows you how to discover your intuitive gifts. It's very .... delighting.
The other night I had this really weird dream. I'm not saying it was crazy weird. I'm just saying it was a dream I have never had before. ( I tend to repeat dreams at times)
I'm rollerblading for some of the dream and biking for the next half. I'm moving down this long straight road with beautiful green grass and above me are these ominous clouds and a head of me is this beautiful sunset. The colors were AMAZING! Red, oranges, yellows and greens. The dream continues like this and then I go up some steps and find myself with my older sister Lisa in a zoo. I'm watching some man swim in a Polar Bear tank like a seal with ice on top of the water. He swims happily with a smile on his face and goes up for air all the time acting as if he was a seal. I watch the bubbles of air escape his mouth and when they reach the top I'm all of a sudden riding my bike in my old neighborhood. I'm going down the street and a dog runs up along side of me, jumps up and bites my hair. I yank the dog off of me and speed to my home. I ditch the dog running into my old garage and close the door quickly. Once inside I see a car being worked on. I go inside the house and am again greeted by my smiling older sister Lisa. The dog is panicking outside looking for me and I feel safe.
With that I wake up and am late for work of course. I grab my dream book and I head off for work. The dream book I grabbed is the newest one that I have purchased. I'm thinking that I like it quite a bit. Below is what I have found out. ( I have included the information relevant to my dream and my life)
Road - Your dream may be a metaphor for the roads you travel through life.
Sky - If the sky is a dominant image in your dream, you may be thinking about the spiritual meaning of life and the purpose of human existence. The daytime sky represents cosmic consciousness, as opposed to ordinary awareness. It is usually associated with God.
Clouds - Clouds may represent your moods. Dark ominous clouds may represent depression or thunderous anger. Clouds also forecast rain and with it the release of tension.
Sun - The sun is a masculine symbol. It is the conscious min and the intellect. It can be a symbol of the true self and may represent intelligence, as distinct from intuition. Sunset represents the end of a phase.
Colors - Red: Represents passion and sexuality. It can also represent anger or blood - it is the color of the life force
Orange: Is usually associated with balance and healing. it is the passions refined.
Yellow: Often associated with artistic inspirations, sometimes considered the color of the coward.
Green: The color of nature brings new life and hope. It's negative association is jealousy.
Sister - For a female dreamer, this may represent the shadow side of the personality that is neglected and undeveloped. Sometimes this may include anti-social qualities that are alarming.
Cage - A cage may be an expression of your feelings about being restricted in some way. Part of you wants to desperately want to escape and feel free again.
Swimming - Expanses of water usually symbolize the unconscious. To dream of swimming shows that you trust the unconscious and are supported by it. You have confidence and are receptive to it's creative power. If you dream of swimming underwater, it may indicated that you have accepted and are at one with your unconscious.
Ice - Water can show the creative flow of feelings, but as ice it shows that feelings are petrified and progress is stopped. You may feel emotionally paralyzed, so pay more attention to your emotional life and become more attuned to your affections. Perhaps you feel that a situation requires you to "break the ice"? You need to experience warm, wholesome feelings expressed with sincerity. Love will melt your frozen heart.
Dog - Dogs helped man hunt and herd his flock. They are therefore a symbol of the right inner relationship between you and your animal nature. they may also symbolize loyalty and guidance. If the dog is ferocious, you have a inner conflict with the animal side of your nature. Perhaps you need to express your anger about an issue that upsets you.
Home - This dream may be about your need for security. You may feel that your situation is better now. If you are single, thoughts about starting a family of your own is evident.
Car - This represents the progress of psychoanalysis. A car is most likely to represent yourself and your ability to control your life.
So I suppose I'm heading on the right track and I still have some issues to work out but don't we all? It made sense to me and for people that are pretty close to me know that this dream truly describes my life at this moment. It's almost freaky the way our subconscious speaks to us.
Have you dreamed lately? What are your dreams about?
