In Rememberance....

Imagine today is 9-11-02. I wrote this for a memorial

Mothers, Fathers, Daughters, Sons

I look around with anxiety in my heart wondering what kind of evil is still lurking out there. Even after a year I remember it like it was yesterday when innocent men, women, and children were viciously snatched from our lives.

Grandmothers, Grandfathers, Aunts, Uncles

I remember the silence of the sky, the blaring new casts in every public place, the hushed worried voices, people running for their lives, big black clouds of smoke, lighted candles, flower memorials, pictures of missing loved ones, and the fear in the hearts of millions.

Nieces, Nephews, Cousins

I'm just a girl in Minnesota. I love my family and friends. I live by the golden rule and respect the differences of each person I meet. I don't understand why you hate me enough to want to kill me.

Husbands, Wives, Brothers, Sisters

Terror and fear is what you are most proud of. You danced in the streets celebrating our shock, horror and pain as we mourned our loved ones. How dare you? You thought you won. You thought you beat us. You couldn't have been more wrong.

Boyfriends, Girlfriends, Fiancées

Selflessness, honor, and courage is what I have seen emerge from this nightmare. Lessons, although hard to bare, have been learned. Beautiful displays of patriotism, communities coming together and our freedom somehow now means so much more.....

Co-Workers, Friends, Neighbors

I'm an American. I'm proud to wave our flag. I'm proud to say our pledge of allegiance and in honor of the thousands of lives that were taken from us, I remember.

...and will never forget.
