I'm on to something, huh?

Are you better off single?
By Dawn Yanek

Attention, unmarried people of America: You can splurge on a fancy new wristwatch without having to explain yourself. You can stay out till 3 a.m. without having to phone home. You can leave the toilet seat up. In fact, there are many, many ways that single life rocks, though you may forget that fact when your relatives are grilling you about settling down.

Not only do you have the freedom to do anything you want—it’s also the best time in history to be flying solo. The marriage rate has declined nearly 50 percent since 1970, according to the National Marriage Project at Rutgers University, and right now, there are approximately 100 million singles in the U.S. And there’s strength in those numbers: “Today’s choose-to-be singles differ from the poor-me singles of past generations; there’s less of a stigma attached to being single, ” says Jerusha Stewart, author of The Single Girl’s Manifesta. “Singles are traveling, buying homes and doing everything they want to—you don’t have to get married anymore to live your life with style.”

Want more specifics on why you should celebrate being single? Here, 10 fascinating benefits to being unmarried:

Reason #1: You have a better body. We’ve all been there—you get into a relationship, and suddenly you’re trying out new recipes all the time and cuddling instead of exercising. Well, things tend to get worse with marriage. A recent Cornell University study found that women generally gain five to eight pounds in the first few years of marriage and unhappily married women gain an average of 54 pounds in the first 10 years. For the unmarried, though, the motivation to stay slim remains: “Singles look at themselves through the eyes of others and want to be attractive to potential partners,” says Susan Davis, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist in New York City, “so they’re still ‘working on themselves.’” In short, being single is way better than any New Year’s resolution or exercise DVD to motivate you to stay in shape.

Reason #2: You’re more likely to achieve great things. It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you have the time, the quiet and the lack of familial responsibilities. In fact, your premarital motivation to excel in life may be biologically programmed. According to a study conducted at the London School of Economics and Political Scientists, male scientists who stay single longer peak in their careers later in life and tend to be more productive than their married counterparts. Researchers theorize that men, in general, may show off their talents to win the interest of women and then, once they’ve won a wife, get comfortable and do less. In fact, studies have shown that testosterone levels, which boost action, decrease after a man gets married and has children. So single folk should know they are primed to achieve — whether that means turbo-charging their careers or honing their rock-climbing skills — and get out there and work it!

Reason #3: You do less housework. You know that saying about a tree falling in a forest and there’s no one there to hear it? Well, if you leave a sock on the floor but there’s no one else there to see it, does it really need to be picked up? If you’re a single woman, you can contemplate deep questions like this one because you have more free time. According to one study published in the Journal of Marriage and Family, women do less housework when single than when married. Men, on the other hand, do more housework when unmarried (that’s probably because there’s someone picking up after them once they’re wed…). So the message here is for unmarried women to enjoy their less chore-filled life; fill those free hours with classes, good books, blabbing with friends—whatever makes you happy.

Reason #4: You can do what you want with your money—including keep it.Go ahead: Splurge on that pricey moisturizer or that obscenely large plasma TV you’ve been lusting after. You don’t have to justify your purchase to anyone but yourself. Once you mix money with marriage, though, things change—and fast. According to a survey by SmartMoney magazine, 40 percent of women and 36 percent of men have lied to their spouses about a purchase. “When you’re single, your finances are your own,” explains Phyllis Chase, a Los Angeles–based psychologist and co-host of the radio show Shrink Rap. “When you’re married, you have to deal with different styles of spending and saving, and you may take on your partner’s debt.” And a marriage that doesn’t make it for the long haul can also have a major negative effect on one’s wealth. According to researchers at Ohio State University’s Center for Human Resource Research, during a divorce, men and women generally lose three-fourths of their personal net worth. Double ouch.

Reason #5: You have better sex.Married couples may have more sex (approximately 98 times a year vs. singles’ 49), but singles have better sex. According to a recent study published in the British Medical Journal, married women are significantly more likely to report problems with their sex lives than single women. “People who are dating have better sex because it’s novel,” says Davis. “Married people have to relearn how to play. It’s natural for singles because that’s the nature of a courting relationship—they tease, they experiment, they explore.” Nature lends a helping hand, too. According to researchers at the University of Pisa in Italy, raging testosterone levels in both men and women makes the sex hotter during the first two years of a relationship. After that, other hormones take over—most notably, oxytocin, a bonding chemical, kicks in. While getting connected and comfortable is a positive step in a relationship, long-term lovers have to work harder to keep things hot in the bedroom. Singles, however, sizzle just the way they are.

Reason #6: You’re better rested and smarter. While snuggling up next to a warm body can be pretty fantastic, according to a survey conducted by the National Sleep Foundation, your bedmate can cause you to lose an average of 49 minutes of sleep per night. Sleeping two-to-a-bed just isn’t as restful as snoozing solo. Other studies confirm that singles generally get more rest — seven to eight hours of sleep a night — than marrieds, which enhances memory, mood and concentration, as well as allows your immune system to recharge. And, according to scientists at the University of Luebeck in Germany, creativity and problem-solving may directly correlate with getting enough sleep. In the study, participants were given a math puzzle; those who’d had eight hours of sleep or more before tackling it were three times more likely to get the right answer than those who slept less. So, singles, revel in the fact that you’re alert, rested and have that extra brain-power edge.

Reason #7: You’re less depressed.Although the media often perpetuates the image of single people being down in the dumps, overall unmarried people tend to be happier than their married counterparts—if you’re a woman, that is. One report by the World Health Organization indicated that married women, especially ones with children, have a higher risk for depression than single women, and researchers at the University of London found that single women generally have fewer mental-health issues. “Marriage, in many ways, seems to benefit men more than women,” says Davis. “For women, there’s more of a loss of self.” And, of course, today’s women often feel like they need to do it all—have a career, take care of the kids and perform other traditionally “female” responsibilities. “People who aren’t married are still investing in themselves,” says Davis. “It’s not selfish—it’s giving to yourself, and that’s something married people can learn from single people.”

Reason #8: You have better friendships.Significant others are a wonderful thing, no doubt, but friends count, too. And on that front, one study found that, when women get married and have children, they spend much less time with their friends—less than five hours a week, down from 14 hours. Singles, however, often have the greatest sense of friendship and community—which can actually decrease stress levels, according to researchers at UCLA. Here's another way to look at this: “Singles don’t rely on just one person to meet their needs. You don’t automatically know who you’re going to spend Friday night with,” says Sasha Cagen, author of Quirkyalone: A Manifesto for Uncompromising Romantics. “The plus side is that you have a lot of different people in your life and potentially a greater sense of social possibilities.”

Reason #9: Your travel tales are enviable.Marrieds take the most vacations, dominating the market with 62 percent of all trips taken, but singles arguably go on more interesting trips. According to the Travel Industry Association of America, singles corner the adventure-travel market, engaging in activities like whitewater rafting, scuba diving and mountain biking. Being single and relatively footloose certainly allows you to expand your geographical — and personal — borders. “I have lived abroad, backpacked for close to a year, have been in love three times and much more,” says Courtney Davis, 27, a media-relations manager in Boston. “With every place and every person, my world has expanded.”

Reason #10: You know yourself—and what you want out of a relationship. You’re a better catch now than you were at 20. You may have signs of, ahem, experience etched on your face, but that’s OK because you’re more interesting and more self-aware. Not only have you grown as a person, but you’ve probably been through the ringer a few times in matters of love and now know what you want—and what you don’t. Experts say that bodes well for future marital success and may actually decrease the likelihood of divorce. “When people get married young, they often feel like the other person will complete them, and they have trouble moving past that Hollywood myth,” explains Chase. “But maturity brings so much, because if you’re able to communicate who you are and what you want, the better your chances of having a successful marriage.” And that’s a wonderful message: Your single self is great... and should you find the right person and decide to marry, you’re more likely to thrive in that stage of your life, too.

I Love Johnny....

This is a movie that I am anxious to see. I mean, hello??? Look at this man!

He is beautiful.

I have had nearly a lifetime crush on him ever since 21 jump street. Remember that show?? He is so hot.

I'm content with just oogling him for a while this afternoon. I need something to keep my mind occupied before I leave this joint and go home to pack. Seems I don't know the meaning of staying in town lately.

Oh well.

*sighs*

I'm such an idiot....

In the past when I have used blogger I had to have a separate server to house all of my pictures. I just realized today that since google has purchased blogger that they changed that option and I can upload my photos directly through blogger and post them that way.

Sometimes, I can be so goofy.

Like the crazy concertina picture?

HI HO RODEO!!!!!!!!

Once we ran around long enough in the woods - M investigating the wonders of life and me whacking bugs and whining about woodticks - we headed back to the cabin for some lunch. Afterwards we packed up our crap and headed back to civilization. Here you can see the lovely bumper to bumper traffic jam we were in on the way back.

I just love that exhuast-filled air, don't you???

So all in all, I had a wonderful time and M's family was extremely kind and gracious to me. M's sister even gave up her room for me. A great big thank-you goes out to them for allowing me to share a part of their annual family vacation. They are great people!

I now return to your regularly scheduled blogging....

Once I calmed down, I convinced M to take a picture together in the 'pit of death'. Don't I look all rodeo'y?

See Kia on the hill? That is where M pull off that tick thing and where I saw the inspiration for the 'Pit of death'.

I'm so creative....

This is a picture of something I like to call "Dog in the pit of death".

I guess it sounds morbid but from the top of the hill - you look down and see all these dead logs and twigs. After some close examination of the said area it turns out someone once had a bonfire there hence the perfectly formed circle of dead items.

The dogs name is Kia. Cute huh?

So this is the place that M pulled a woodtick off of himself and threw me into hysterics because I mean, I could have been eaten alive by one or something. Right?

All I know is that I had the hee-be-gee-bee's for a long while after that. Ugh... I'm SUCH an wuss.

After a very long day at the parade and rodeo we got back to the cabin very late. After M put B to bed M and I took a few mile walk around the area. It was GORGEOUS out and we had a full moon to gawk at. However, depsite how nice and cool the air was and everything I got scared of some dang dog barking so we headed back. I mean, what if it was a wild pack of dogs? Wolves? Or worse yet - what if it was the bear that is roaming the area that was pretending to be a wild pack of dogs to get us off gaurd so he could attack, kill or maim us and then eat us????

Stranger things have happened.

So anyway, the next morning we had a leasurily breakfast and headed out for some more walking and exploring. Here you can see a ton of trees on the road into their joint....

I have to admit, despite my distaste for how they treated the baby cows and being deathly afraid to sit down when the bulls were being ridden I had an amazing time at the rodeo.

I got to sit next to B and we had a wonderful time. Here you can see B smiling pretty for me and her dad M in the back round totally engrossed in the crazy antics of the rodeo.

Wellll, maybe not this hot, sexy cowboy dude...

Here is an example of what I mean. People, this was right in front of my face and dust was being kicked up through and over the fence. Whoever that dude was on the horse was a fricken crazy cowboy dude.

The all are.

I saw lots of horses, baby cows and some bulls. One of the bucking horses actually tried to go back into the shute in front of us and was unable to due to the shute door being closed. The horse tried to turn in the middle of his gallop to the shute and slipped and fell on the fence you see in front of us.

Can I just tell you that I seriously thought my weak heart was about to stop in that instant???? I was mortified - not only for myself but for the horse. I was exciting but seriously something I will never forget. To have a bucking, full gallop horse come running towards you with only an 8 foot chain-link fence between you and then to have it slip, land on the fence and break it less than 5 feet from your face?!?!?!

Holy fricken crap.

We took pictures of the kidlets - notice how very close we are to the fence? We were on the first row of bleechers about 5 feet from the fence you see.

This is also where the animals go back into their shute after they are down bucking cowboy dudes off their back...

Once the 400 hour parade was over and we were completely red lobsters we headed back to the cabin for some lunch. Once that was over we headed back to Spooner for the Rodeo.

Here is B enjoying a pony ride...

And last, but surely not least they have a punk rocker dude on a purple custom made chopper motorcycle. It seriously can't get any better than that can't it??

I totally dug his mohawk....

And get this... ANOTHER marching band....

And another marching band....

Another marching band....

A marching band....

Scary monster thingys....

Bag pipe dudes....

Military things and people....

They had horses...

B, M & P were waiting and ready to go. Here they are waiting for people to drop more candy. They seriously took in the mother-load of candy.

Never seen anything like it...

We got there Friday night, late. Basically we arrived, I got a tour of the place and we all went to bed.

The next morning we woke up for pancakes and headed off to the Spooner, Wisconson parade which was close to the cabin. M took the opportunity to take out his suntan oil, oil himself up and try and look deliciously hot for the ladies.

*rolling eyes*

I took multiple walks while I was up there and saw some pretty beautiful things. For some reason this stump full of all different kinds of moss struck me as something to take a picture of.

Ahhhh, pretty stump.....

Well I can tell you people were getting antsy to see the pictures from my Rodeo trip last weekend. I know, I know - I have made you wait forEVER!

Here is a picture of the lake at M's cabin. It was an over cast day but my camera sucks too so it wasn't gonna turn out but you get the idea.

You will have to bare with the pictures because they really aren't the best. I need to purchase a camera and not MP3 players....

8 DAYS LEFT!!!!

Clerks II - July 21, 2006

I can't even stand it!!!

FREE AT LAST....

Driving into work was a dream.  I was rocking out to the coolest tunes ever known to man and all I needed was my itsy bitsy Creative Zen Nano and the transmitter thingy.  Can you believe it?

NO TAPES. NO CDS. NO WIRES.

Not that I can have them in the truck anyway since they tend to get stolen.  (Kinda like my portable CD player did last year)

I was totally jamming out on the way to work.  I nearly didn’t notice that I hit every single light – all 21 of them - on the way to work. Was it because I wasn’t paying attention and gunning it at the last minute to make it through the light? Anything is possible.  All I know is that I didn’t seem to care much because I wanted to hear more music anyway.

Currently listening too: EVERLY BROTHERS – Devoted to You

PROJECT RUNWAY!!!

How many people watched Bravo tonight? I mean, HELLO!?! Project Runway was on!!! Did you watch it??

So Jeffrey seems like a jerk huh? I mean, can we say full of himself?? So he dresses rock stars - so what? I used to dress barbies when I was a kid. Obviously the judges thought you totally sucked rocks this time around.I say...whatever dude...

Isn't Vincent a total whack job or what? The dude put a basket on a chicks head with chains attached to it!!! He was totally diggin' that hat - that is until the judges knocked him off his fantasy Basket Hat lovin' pedestal he was on. What is the deal with not standing up for your design you loved so much? I say... what a crazy wanker guy...

This chick Alison is in the top 5 with me. She has a classic look and I love her work so far. (she modeled for her portfolio of clothes) I say... she's decent.

Katherine is from Minneapolis, Minnesota so if she was taping fabric together - I would be rooting for her. She is from "The Land Of 3 Billion Lakes" just like me! Despite this super cool and awesome fact - she has some seriously cute sporty designs and I'm eager to see her work! I say...GO KATHARINE, GO!!!

It turns out that Stacey doesn't know how to work an industrial sewing maching. Hmmm...Isn't that something you probably need to know in a sewing competition? She could have added the additional layer of skirting if she wasn't HAND SEWING the garment. If she would have taken advantage of the technology allowed to her - she may not have been the first to get kicked out. I say... To bad sista'

Bonnie has designed stuff for that tennis chick Serena Williams. (is that even spelt right?) So I suppose she is supposed to be good. I say... Let's find out...

I don't even remember Bradley so I suppose he didn't make any kind of impression on me. Was that the dude that stole that other dudes pillow case? Maybe that was him. Not sure. I say...Are you in there?

Michael Knight. His name reminds me of that show Knight Rider with that dufus David Hasselhoff. Wasn't the car named Kit? Ahhh...The cheesy 80's... Anyway, this guy surprises me with his evening wear but somehow it makes me think he is a player guy since some of the dresses looked a little hoochie-fied but what do I know? I'm some suburbia chick from up nort'. I say...Wow me Hoochie man!

Angela seems to be half way decent and she at least have some sort of personality unlike SOME of the contestants. (Bradley... I'm talking to you...) Anyway although I remember her talking on the show, I don't remember what she said. I say...There is potential

I remember Uli's dress and her accent. I mean, she is from Germany and that is my heritage so I like her. I wonder if she got on the show because Heidi Klum wanted someone else to speak German with. One never knows... I say...Promising!

I like Robert because he designs clothes for Barbie and EVERYONE loves Barbie. I mean, he has some awesome background ya know? The dude designs BARBIE CLOTHES! BARBIE CLOTHES! If you are a chick (or a gay man) you totally know what I'm talking about. He is our designing God so to speak. (But not really ok Mom so don't be telling me I was talking the Lords name in vain or anything because that isn't how I meant it and if I really am going to Hell for that - I'm pretty much doomed...FYI) I say...He is like the uber designer (sorry Katherine) Oh yea and by the way Robert. It's ok if you have to bring your own pillow to places - I do it too. It's like we're twins! ..But not.

Kayne, honey, you're cute so really, I didn't pay much attention to anything other than you are pretty hot. Oh and it's cute that you designed a pink tutu dress for your dog but lets not focus on that because I would like to think that the hot dude that I'm oogling isn't gay or anything. I say... You're my eye candy. Stay straight!

Isn't Keith the guy that has never made a dress before and then won the challenge with a dress made from a fricken bed sheet? I say... Genius.

Lose the fake accent Malon and admit that you are really from Iowa corn country. This guy is a piece of work. I have to watch the show simply to see how much of an ass he will become. It's between this guy and that arrogant Jeffrey guy as to who will be the biggest meanie of the season. I say... You're pompous and I don't like you.

Laura is like the Wendy Pepper of season 1 but wait a minute? This chick actually has some class, style and taste. Not to mention the chick is a mom of 5 kids. Yes. FIVE KIDS! I say good for her and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her sophisticated style and can't wait to see more of her stuff. DID YOU SEE THAT COAT SHE CREATED OUT OF A FRICKEN RUG?!?! How Divine!!! I say... I love this chick.

So next week, they are kicking someone off the show due to some 'breaking of the rules' and my bet is on Jeffrey, Vincent and Malon. Who do ya'll think it's gonna be?

Life Is Good...

Tonight I splurged and got myself a Creative Zen Nano. I got it in RED of course, would I have picked any other color? It was on sale and I saved $30.00 off the original price. I took the opportunity to buy a Sonic Impact Wireless FM Transmitter Si-Link for my truck so I can listen to the music on my truck stereo.

I have to admit, the technology is a bit beyond my knowledge but I have managed to figure it out in a small amount of time. I guess I know a bit more than I thought about these types of things.

I guess one is always learning huh? Anyway, I'm excited to listen to it at work tomorrow. More so than that? I'm excited to have decent music in my truck to listen too. (It's about time...)

The Verdict...

Lately I have been doing something every night of the week and it’s been that way for almost two weeks.  I’m exhausted.  I don’t want to be runnin’ anymore and I have no choice but to keep my obligations.  I guess summer is just too much the older I get.

Maybe having the house with all the yard work wasn’t so bad – at least I had a reason to say no more often. However, I can’t complain because being busy keeps me from (A) eating and (B) getting lonely. Nothing wrong with that!

Speaking of eating, I lost another ½ pound this week on Weight Watchers.  You can tell I was being naughty with the drinking and the potato salad huh? I haven’t weighed in for two weeks due to them being closed last Tuesday which happened to be the 4th of July.  I should have lost more however at least I didn’t gain anything.  I suppose that is enough of being naughty huh?

Stupid Holidays…

Crap.

The internet is down.

But only at my work I’m sure.  I want it back up.

NOW!

Oh Kathy....Oh Kathy....

I can’t even tell you how sorry I am to hear the news.  I mean, we knew something was up back in September and we even gossiped in the bathroom about it.

It sucks to have someone steal money from ya. I mean, my divorce was basically over the same thing…well, that and some other crappy stuff. Trust is nothing you ever want to mess around with – especially when it comes to money.

I feel for ya gal.  I really, really do.

Hey All You Computer People.....

Yesterday I bought myself a Bonzai Xpress USB 2.0 Embedded Flash Drive - otherwise known as a ‘jump drive’ – to sneak around the crazy rules of my work computer.  (We are unable to download ANYTHING from the internet with the exception of pictures) I thought I could upload some picture software so that I could upload my pictures to my blog without having to do it at home.

I uploaded the Picasa software I wanted from my home computer onto the jump drive and this morning I attempted to place it on my work computer. SUCCESS!  That part of my sneaky plan worked however, I can’t get the software to connect to the internet.

I can an error that reads: Network unreachable. Please check you internet connection and try again. (0x00000020)

This irks me.  I mean, I don’t know what to do.  I have checked my connection and its up and running.  I have even gone as far as put my security at ‘low’ hoping this would eliminate my problem but it hasn’t.  I need help and I know there are some super smart internet folks out there that may be able to assist me.  Leave a comment below if you know what I need to do.

Because of the problems I’m unable to post my rodeo pictures.  I mean, I can do it while I’m home but I’m so danged busy when I leave work that the last thing I want to do is sit at another computer when I have been doing that all day long.  I promise that I will post the pics but it would be easier if I could post them from work.

Please, someone help!

Check this out!!!

You guys (and gals) you seriously need to check out this link.  It is hilarious and I can’t wait to post a few things I have heard myself…

I'm EXHAUSTED!

I’m back at work and I am alive but I’m more tired that I have been in a while.  I mean, it feels like I have the hangover from the dark side yet I didn’t have a drop of alcohol all weekend.

I’m burnt.  The sun and I hung out for a while this weekend.  The tops of my feet are lobster red.

They hurt.

I have like 8 million pictures but I was too tired to even move last night let alone download 8 million pictures to my computer.  I suppose you folks will just have to wait a bit for the exciting rodeo pictures.  I have determined that my camera phone that I thought was so amazing not so long ago kinda sucks rocks when taking pictures lately.  I need to invest in a digital camera that actually works with my computers operating system.

I had a great time and I loved all the cowboy butts everywhere.  They sure were nice lookin’.  However, you do realize for every good butt there were at least 187 bad butts to look at.

*sighs*

The good butts were worth it though….

YEEE HAWWWW!!!

Well people, this is it.  I’m leaving in 15 minutes to head home and pack my truck up for the weekend.  Are you all gonna be able to handle me not posting on this thing for two entire days?  It’s possible you might need some encouragement while I’m gone so I will leave you with this:

"You were born an original. Don't die a copy."

I’m off to the wonderful world of hot bums in cowboy chaps….

God loves me.

Movie Review Time

Elektra – This movie was something I expected a little bit more from but didn’t get.  For some reason I thought it was gonna be more flashy and it wasn’t.  I loved her outfit however because of the blood-red color but that too could have been more prominently used in the movie.  I mean, she could have fought in it more than she did. Overall the story was fine it just wasn’t what I was looking for. RATING: Whatever…

Mrs. Henderson Presents – This movie was the fricken bomb!  I loved it.  I liked the costumes and the music and the showy dance number outfits.  Of course there was a bit of nudity in it being it was based on a true story of how the nude girls of the Windmill Theatre in London started but it was tasteful. I absolutely adored the character of Mrs. Henderson.  I hope when I’m her age I’m just as mischievous and fun! Her crush on Van Damm was precious and I was hoping they would get together but life happens.  RATING: A must see…

Emmanuel's Gift – Is a documentary about a man with one leg that bikes across his country of Ghana to raise awareness about disabled people in his country.  It’s a wonderful display of humanity at it’s best.  I enjoyed it – the story and the cinematography.  The colors and the artistry of the film work was wonderful.  If you are a documentary type of person this is a film you might enjoy.  RATING: I cried…

The Constant Gardener – This movie was a mover and a shaker.  I loved this film.  The story, the order in which it was shot, the cinematography, the colors, the people, the MUSIC – it was fascinating!!  I watched it twice which is a rarity with my attention span.  I will be purchasing the soundtrack.  I may even be purchasing this movie so I can enjoy it over and over.  This is a serious plot so don’t be getting this flick if you want to laugh or anything.  I not only think you should watch this film but you should go out and rent or buy it right now.  RATING: What are you waiting for?  GO!

Morning Ya'll....

The internet here is down.  I can’t get into the application I need to work so I thought I would do what I do best – write about nothing.  I’m bored and it’s 9:00 in the morning.

I’m packed but I’m sure I’m forgetting something.  I haven’t loaded my truck though.  I figure I will leave early today and take care of that before I have to pick up my two traveling companions and head out of here.  I’m a bit nervous about the trip but I’m sure I will get over it when I see the hats and chaps walking about.

I can’t moderate the comments on this here blog because of my lack of internet.  Luckily I have a feature on this thing that allows me to email my postings and publish all with a push of a send button.  It’s this feature that allows me the incognito-ness of this whole blogging endeavor. Lucky you guys huh?

So on one of the comments you can’t see just yet, it suggests that I make a review on the two movies I saw last night.  I figure I have nothing better to talk about so I will do my best to entertain you with this.  However, I will post it in a minute. I have to eat some breakfast before I shrivel up and die.

Remember...

You can only do as much as you set your mind to do.

I didn't eat the pizza.

...but I had some chips I shouldn't have had. Not many though but enough to know I must behave myself this weekend if I want results at my next weigh-in.

I have one load left of laundry I have to fold before I can get some much needed rest. I have been packing and doing laundry since I got home. Of course I watched two movies in that time too.

I'm so spoiled...

...

You know when you look in the mirror and you see the reflection of yourself?  At times don’t you wish you saw more?  Like, who are you really? Are you happy with you and your place in life?  What is it gonna take to become who you always thought you were or should be?

Should you say what you think? Should you wear what you want? Should you put in more effort than you do? If you get by with half-assed, is that good enough for you?

Running away or masking the issue only causes more problems but it’s possible you might think if you stay ahead of it – it won’t catch you. But it will because it always does.

….I wanna eat a whole pizza.

What Now?!

OK, my excitement for this rodeo trip is fading fast after my conversation with M. It’s obvious to me that he is either super crabby about life or just upset I’m going. I realize I wasn’t in the original plan but he could at least pretend that having me go along will be fun. It’s not my fault his plans fell apart.

Maybe I’m just making a mountain out of a molehill but the last thing I want to do on this trip is have a crappy time because he is moody. Simple questions about what to bring and what we will be doing shouldn’t irritate someone.

I just wanna see some hot cowboy butt, I mean, there isn’t anything wrong with that. Is there? UGH! Do I even wanna go anymore?

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Raja and Dawnita had a beautiful healthy baby boy today!!

Gotta Pillow?

I believe my head is about to fall off my neck it’s bobbing so much from the lack of sleep.  This weekend and this week have just been too much for this chick.  It’s time to slow down.

I need a nap.

Turns out this weekend I’m heading out to Wisconsin for the Spooner Rodeo. Folks, this will be my very first rodeo ever - like, in the history of Jacque world.  I understand that the tickets we have are located right behind where the rider gets on the bull or horse.

I’m scared but then I’m excited too.  It’s kinda like I’m confused with how I feel about it.  I have wanted to go to this annual event for years but never got the chance too.  Now, the opportunity has presented itself and I’m taking full advantage of it.  I mean, there will be hot cowboy men there.  Probably LOTS of them!  I will be in picture taking HEAVEN. You all know that you will be seeing lots of hot cowboy dudes posted when I get back so brace yourselves.

Plus!  I get to spend time with B and see M’s famous (non-existent in my book) cabin that he talks about all the fricken time that I have never seen. I’m sure the weekend will be full of fun and excitement.

The Byrd Place

Ok, Ok.... I'm sure S isn't gonna appreciate my last artistic photograph but we won't tell him ok? So mum's the word on it....

Who am I kidding? It was done out of pure naughtiness and I take full credit. I mean, a girl has to take risks in life right? he he he

So here is a fountain that we sat nearby and chatted. The rest of the night came pretty quick and here I am safe and sound at home posting this and waiting for another load of laundry to get done so I can sleep knowing my laundry is nearly finished.

I need a maid or something - that or a less busy dating life.

Ummm, yea.... I'll take that maid....

Somehow I managed to get a good pictures of another subject..

SHHhhhhhh, now people - don't be all shocked. Ladies? Huh? Tell me you wouldn't have done the same thing?

he he he he I'm horrible....

I tried getting a picture of the Japenese peace rock garden thingy but I was losing light fast and couldn't get a decent picture....

Check this out! This wall of roots and dirt is from a tree falling over. S went down by the wall and it made him look tiny next to it. I mean, he's like 6 foot and a bigger dude too...

This was massive....

This is a tree that a leprechan lives in...

Yup. You heard me. A leprechan....

Tonight after work I hung out with S at the Lake Harriet Bird Sanctuary. Here are a few pictures I took before it got too dark out.

Keep in mind that my camera sucks....

Ugh...

I just want my bed. I just wanna sleep.

Is it lunch time yet?

4th Of JULY!

It was really a beautiful day. After we had enough of the flowers and the walking J showed me around town where he grew up and took me to 'Amore Victoria Ristorante' for dinner. It was a shnazzy place and was very nice...

All and all my weekend of the 4th was pretty much one of the best weekends I have had in years. I can't believe how much I packed into this weekend. I mean, I don't think I even touched on everything I did!

I hope that your weekend was just as fun!

Just think, next weekend - I'm going out of town for another 4th of July bash! Can you even believe it?!!?

he he he eh.... it's good to be me....

And this one....

I thought this view was nice of the Basilica...

After crossing the crazy bridge over the HWY94 tunnel we made our way through Loring Park. Here are some pictures I took in the garden area...

Here is a picture I caught with my phone but it still doesn't do this sculpture justice. I wish they woudl have had the water fountain out of the cherry stem working.

It looks so neat when they do have it running...

I had a picture of J and I on my camera but it truly sucked rocks. Here is a picture he got from his camera phone. What a difference huh?

All I can say is I'm glad we both had sunscreen on or we would be lobsters right now - fricken Lobsters.

I want a new phone...

After a long day and night, the next morning I met up with J and we filled our day with tons of stuff.

First, walking up to Chin Asia Fresh from my house and getting some much needed lunch. We walked the long way back to my house and rested from the heat.

Then we headed to the driving range at Brookview Golf Course. You would be surprised how very few people were there. We have the place to ourselves!! Not to mention the fact that J is like a total pro when it comes to whackin' those golf balls across the course.

Who knew?

After that we mosied (is that how you spell that?) over to the Walker Art Center only to find that it was closed so we just wandered through the sculpture garden. Here you can see that the Cherry and the Spoon Bridge has been fully renovated and looks fantabulous!!!

Finally on Monday - things calmed down a bit. I walked about Lake Calhoon and the Lake of the isles with S and gave my weary feet a break in the water.

Here I am wading off a very wobbly dock that scared the crap-o-la outta me....

I Alive.

But tired.

I think it was 4am this morning when I finally got some sleep. I was just to excited to think about bed. I haven't had that much fun in YEARS.

I mean, I wasn't drunk - maybe buzzed slighty but that was all I needed to let down my gaurd and have a good time. Plus, I got to go dancing and although I tell myself that I can't dance - I love to do it.

Even though we were at two gay bars (of the three we were at) I still had straight men hit on me. Like real live ones.

I know they were probably drunk as hell but it still made me feel good. It's not often the chubby girls gets that kind of attention. Maybe I'm not as chubby as I think anymore.

I still have so far to go. Too far at times I think. It makes me want to stop all this but I know I can't. I want to see my nieces grow up and have babies. I want to give my nephew hell when he has his first little brat...

I just wanna be there to see who they are gonna be. I can't do that if I'm not healthy enough to stay.

I can't wait until I'm 50....

DRUNK BLOGGING - THE NEW RAGE....

So after the whole Jenny Craig fiasco with A we decided to go to Rudolphs in Uptown for a few. We ended having one but we had some seriously delicious pita bread and hummus.

It's possible that if A would come out with us instead of going to the pizza joint - he would have been more satisfied but whatever.

So then we are all like - let's go dancing and we tried to park but got all like locked in so two of us started walking and the other two went back to the car and then they picked us up and we parked AGAIN.
So we get in the GAY 90's and run through the club to find what bar we want to be in. (they have like a million to choice from in the maze of a place)

Us girls start dancing on the rap dance floor and Queenie goes his way.

A hand on my hip.

A hand on my thigh.

What the hell - is this dude up on me? I'm all panicked. I'm mean, it's been YEARS since I was at a club dancing. Am I supposed to be offended?

Hand on my hip - brush it off.

Hand on my other hip - brush that off.

Dancing...

Hand on my shoulder - hand on my hip - BUMPIN' my BEHIND! HOLY HELL!! Gotta go....

Standing on the wall. Fanning myself. Sweating. It's hot.

Another guy pulls me in his arms and wants to take me to the TECHNO bar. WOOOOooooohhhhh.. Hold up! I'm with my friends. I'm not leaving my friends...

He walks away.

Drinking my water. Fanning myself. Pulled through the crowd - friends are done dancing - it's late. Gotta find Queenie....

Waiting at the door. TECHNO man sees me and tries dancing at the door - looking for a kiss.

I'm so not into this....

Where is Queenie? Are we leaving?

In the parking lot - Queenie not there.

texting.

Calling.

FOUND HIM - Off and running. Finally home.

Those extra bracelets are ugly. I can't get them off ....

I'm
so
old.

I had a better picture of my friend but because she doesn't know I have a blog and I dont have her permission (to show a GOOD picture) then I can't post it. So you have to suffer with this horrible nearly black photo of A from the bar.

He used to be a model and now lives in Austin, Texas with his partner of 18 years. His partner makes a million a year and he doesn't have to work. he invited me to his place but I declined. I mean, the dude is gay and it is in Texas.

I would'nt be home for supper.

Ok so the real dirt is that this dude is fricken HUNGRY. He explained to me that he had eaten like a huge piece of lasagna and then had a hamburger and wanted to go and grab a greesy cheesy pizza at Delano's on Lake and 1st or something. Not that I know where that is - if it exists or if there even is a place name Delano's but that is what he wanted.

He says he is a binge eater and then doesn't eat for 4 days because he doesn't want to get fat. Model seriously screwed with this dudes brain.

The man was super fine (even if he was gay) and I tried to explain to him that he needed to love himself and get help but he just told me that he wanted chicken wings.

I tried.

Ok, so like after my walk - I yapped on the phone like forever and then I got ready to go to my friends fashion show. Not like it was HER show because it wasn't. She was a MODEL in the show. (do the CAP letters help you understand better?)

So anyway, it was downtown Minneapolis at the Saloon bar. I got lost like 3 times trying to find it and freaked the hell out texting everyone on the face of the earth. If I didn't text you then I suppose you aren't cool or something. (don't listen to me because I'm a bit tipsy tervy)

I'm toasted.

But not really or I wouldn't be able to post this crap.

Anyway so this is my friend on the runway infront of tons of people. The picture sucks but what can I do? I'm just some chick.

Here is the intersection of the 5,000th step on the walk from fricken hell.

Did I tell you I am burnt to a crisp because of it? I need some more aloe. I itch.

I think what I need is a piece of fried chicken....

Here I am resting in the woods off in the distance becuase I was frying like chicken in the griddle for a 4th of July pot-luck.

Do you like the toxic sludge I took a picture of? I was just trying not to get poisen ivy however, tonight at the club - it's possible someone gave me something else. I mean, seriously - are dance floors always that nasty?

I am sooo old....

Here I am at 3500 steps....

Today... (well actually yesterday afternoon because it's like 2:49am) I took a walk...

It's a bird... It's a plane... It's....

SUPERMAN RETURNS was super cool last night! I loved it. Everyone needs to go out and see this movie! I can't wait until the sequel!

I so want to be Lois Lane...
